Your weekly email news roundup: Don't miss out!
News & Noteworthy
Google has announced that it will shut down inactive accounts starting in 2023. Why? To help with overall system security. What does this mean for you? Well, suppose you have 1 (ahem, or 5+) Gmail accounts you use for sign-ups, testing, etc.. In that case, you should ensure you are reading and sending an email from them once in and while... otherwise, they may disappear. Regarding your email list, this also means that if someone has used a catch-all email to sign up, you will likely get some serious hard bounces, which can hurt deliverability. All the reason to make sure you are keeping your list clean and only sending to engaged contacts.
ActiveCampaign has launched an update allowing you to store deals, contacts, and account files! This is a considerable upgrade for CRM users who want to attach and share documents with their teams.
CoSchedule has launched a new Title Generator Tool. As a huge CoSchedule fan (I love the Headline Studio and Email Subject Line tester tools), this is another bookmarkable aid to support your content marketing.
Planning to Migrate Your System Soon?
Switching email marketing and automation tools, especially those with a CRM component, isn't easy - Especially when the software providers offer "free" migration to get you to switch tools.
Most people must realize that migration comes with a cost not associated with the software. Each time you migrate your email, you switch IPs, impacting your deliverability and potential for a significant (up to 30%) contact loss.
Other costs? QAing a new system, updating your SOPs, and training your team. All things that take time... and add change-related stress. A lower monthly price or a few new features might not be worth the longer term impact
In this article, I share some strategies to help system migrations go as smoothly as possible.
Quick Tip to Improve Your Emails
Most Popular Read/Open Times
This week's tip comes with a grain of salt - even though open rates are becoming less and less reliable (due to privacy considerations in the ESPs), this week, I want you to check on your most popular available/read times... and adjust, your email send time if needed.
If you are an ActiveCampaign user, you can find this data under Reports > Campaigns > Open/Read times.
Is your email send days/times matching the most popular open/read days/times? Ok, awesome! But, as a part two of this tip, how about split testing your email across your top 2 open/read times (even if it's different days/times)? You never know what might happen, and maybe, a new day will be more engaging for your audience.
